Stitch Fix Box #12 March 2016

Hello everyone :) Spring is getting closer and I’ll be honest this winter has drug on and on! On a brighter note I received my Stitch Fix box #12. I can’t believe its been that long already! Let me tell you I’ve only kept all five items in my box one other time and (spoiler alert) I kept everything this time. Jessica brought her A-game this month because I loved it all!

In my Note to Stylist I wrote that I was needing a necklace to go with my Easter Dress and that would match the Navy in everyone else’s outfits. I also told her that I wanted only top items and no pants. So here’s what she sent me :

Item #1 Absolutley Tayler Open Drape Cardigan

Oh how I loved this cardigan!! This is just my style, beautiful colors, and I loved how it wasn’t too heavy.

DSC_0439DSC_0429

Item #2 Loveappella Devon Pleated Mini Skirt

Ok, so I’m sorry for the dark picture, I was in a hurry before work one day. This skirt is so comfy and loved the length. It’s hard to find a skirt that not too long on my petite frame. And it has pockets!!:) Oh how I love pockets…

DSC_0451IMG_5863 (2)

Item #3 Skies are Blue Cecillo Crochet Front Knit Top

This was a great spring top, perfect with shorts or skinny jeans!

DSC_0443DSC_0445

Item #4 Bay to Baubles Lillia Gemstone Collar Necklace

This Necklace will go great with my Easter dress. The navy and mint also goes with many of other clothes I already have.

DSC_0426

Item #5 Market and Spruce Spencer 3/4 Sleeve Striped Dress

To go with the navy theme Jessica sent me this amazing lightweight dress. Yet again, this was the perfect length on me, and overall the pattern is very slimming.

I usually wait all three days to checkout. That way in the end I’m not keeping things just to keep them. Well I knew from the time I opened this one that I would be keeping them all. This was the best fix yet! If you have any questions about Stitch Fix click here. Thanks for stopping by and I can’t wait till the Fix!    -Monica

Hello!! I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and New Years! I took a little break from Stitch Fix during the holidays and oh how I missed it!! When I opened my box I immediately loved the soft colors and overall this was one of my favorite fixes.

A quick selfie wearing my favorite Pixley cardigan :)

For those of you unfamiliar with Stitch Fix here is a very quick rundown:

Your personal stylist will handpick five items for you which can include tops, pants, dresses, jewelry, purses, etc.. It is free shipping both ways.  There is a $20 styling fee initially but that will come off the price of anything you keep even if you keep just one thing. And if you keep everything you will get a 25% discount!! If  you decide to try it please use my link here so I can keep doing these posts on what I love!

Item #1 Marlyn Shiff Medina Teardrop Earrings-Sent Back

These were very pretty and not too heavy but I already have a pair similar.

thumb_DSC_0391_1024

Item#2 Pixley Willow Draped Cardigan-KEPT!!

I’m learning very quickly that everything I get that is Pixley brand I’m probably going to love! This one was amazing. I told Jessica how much I loved my Pixley cardigan from my last fix and this one is just as comfy!! I absolutely loved this sweater!

thumb_DSC_0382_1024
thumb_DSC_0387_1024

Item #3 Skies are Blue Galla Mesh Detail Sweater- Sent Back

I liked this and I almost kept it but the neck was just a little too high for my comfort.

thumb_DSC_0405_1024

Item #4 Loveappella Celso Detail Knit Top-Sent Back

This is another one I regret sending back. The material is very very soft and the shirt was overall flattering.

thumb_DSC_0400_1024

thumb_DSC_0398_1024

Item #5 Papermoon Ailana Lace Panel Keyhole Back Knit Top-Sent Back

Oh how I loved this shirt! I was going to keep it and actually had it on to go to work. As I was getting things ready in the morning I noticed it was catching on everything :( I figured it wouldn’t be long before I tore a hole in it so I very sadly sent it back.

Stitch Fix Review #10 November 2015

Hello and Happy Thanksgiving!! I hope you had a wonderful holiday with your friends and family. I know I am so grateful for all the blessings God has given me. I know that sounds a little corny but it’s true :) I ate way to much turkey and cheesecake.. Then I went with my momma and sister and we shopped till we dropped on Black Friday!

So here is my 10th Stitch Fix Box! I can’t believe its been that many but time flies when you’re having fun. I have to say this  box was really good. I know my Stylist Jessica tries very hard to find the best goodies that fit my style and budget.  I could have easily kept everything but I couldn’t stomach keeping jeans I can barely fit over my hips! lol  The rich warm tones of the Pixley Cardigan are seriously to die for and it matches my cross body bag I received in my last fix!  If you would like to check Stitch Fix out for yourself click here.

Item #1 Bay to Baubles Brinley Flower Gemstone Necklace    I really liked this necklace, I loved the colors and it was the perfect size. -Sent Back

   batch_DSC_0246

Item #2 Just Black Connely Skinny Jean- Sent Back                    I just didn’t love these. They kind of plain for the price. I wouldn’t have minded keeping them just to have a nice pair of black jeans but like I said I could barely fit them over my hips.

batch_DSC_0275

batch_DSC_0272

Item #3 Pixley Avi Open Drape Cardigan-KEPT!!!

I am seriously wearing this cardigan as I’m writing this :) I absolutely looovvveee this sweater! It is so so warm and cozy. The colors are so perfect and I went a little crazy with the pictures…I just love it so much!!

 batch_DSC_0261 batch_DSC_0258

batch_DSC_0262 batch_DSC_0256

Item #4 Market and Spruce Bernadette Lace Overlay Raglan Top- Sent Back

The colors of this top matched perfectly with the necklace and sweater. I liked this top just didn’t love it enough to keep it. It did fit very well though.

batch_DSC_0269

Item #5 Zad Cody Teardrop Fringe Earrings- Kept

These are so pretty, I didn’t have anything like them so they are mine now. I already have worn them several times. They are the perfect size, color and style.

Stitch Fix Review October 2015

Hi Friends! Oh how I love the fall, pretty leaves and cool weather. Cooler temps bring my most favorite thing in the world..sweaters and boots!! It’s that time again, another Stitch Fix Review, here are some things I requested: a specific plaid shirt, fall tops and no pants.  I was a bit disappointed this time to find I actually was sent a pair of pants but I did find something I liked. Tell me what you think!

batch_IMG_4536

Item #1 Market and Spruce Chaplin Hooded Anorak Cargo Jacket- Sent back

I really liked this jacket but I was hoping for something a little warmer for winter and I had just bought something very similar to this so with heavy heart sent back…(tear)

batch_IMG_4552

Item #2 Collective Concepts Verano Crochet Detail Blouse- Sent Back

I liked this top too, it looked great with the Pixley cardigan. It was just a little too blousy big for me.

batch_IMG_4556

Item #3 Pixley Abriella Waffle Knit Cardigan-KEPT!!

I looooved this cardigan!!!! The material is so so different and flattering. I didn’t have anything like it and at $48 I thought the price was very reasonable!

batch_FullSizeRender

Item #4 Papermoon Wynn Blouse-Sent Back

This shirt was very similar to a shirt I had pinned on my board. It was a Petite and fit me quite well. It just didn’t wow me so it went back.

batch_IMG_4557

Item #5 Level 99 Giovanni Straight Leg Jean-Sent Back

These pants were also a Petite, and fit me quite well. Here’s the brutally honest part, I hated them.. I requested no pants and I got these. I found the color awful, and the price tag even worse. I’m sure she sent them to me because they came in petite and they did look good with the Collective concepts top being a navy color.

This was very pretty, and fit great!

DSC_0009batch_DSC_0026

Item #3 and #4 Pixley Malynn Asymmetrical Soft Moto Vest and Romolo Genevieve Stacked Chevron Pendant Necklace

I was iffy on the vest, I think I could have made it work. I kept the necklace, I had it on my Pinterest board about a million times!

batch_batch_DSC_0030batch_DSC_0013

Item #5 Hem & Thread Highley Lace Detail Knit Top

This top was really soft and pretty, you really need to wear something underneath, kinda see-through.

batch_DSC_0035batch_DSC_0037

So there it is! I loved everything, and only kept the necklace.. yes I’m crazy. But there’s always next month! Please click here if you would like to try Stitch Fix for yourself!

God showed up even when I didn’t believe he would..

James 1:3 NLT

“For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. “

Another month has come and gone and I hope it was fantastic for you and your family! I felt strongly to share my heart with you and what occurred this week within our community.

This was an incredibly enlightening week for me both spiritually and emotionally. Something that could have had a terrible outcome, turned into something powerful and beautiful.

A dire situation arose in a small town I work in and at the time it seemed destined to turn into a tragedy. The entire community went into action and did everything in their humanly power to help. Hundreds showed up. Those who could help physically did, and those who could only pray, did.. I helped a little physically, but mostly I  walked and prayed, hard. I sadly haven’t prayed like that in a very long time. And it hurt, because God was doing something in me I never expected. He was teaching me to BELIEVE that he would answer my prayers, even when I didn’t think he would.

A miracle happened.. God answered us, and saved a precious life. We all cried tears of joy and I also cried tears of humility because I didn’t believe God would show up. Even though I prayed and prayed my heart just didn’t believe. I let the devil win a small victory by planting a seed of disbelief. I wonder how many other times I’ve prayed for the Lord to answer me and unaware my heart was weak.

1 Peter 1:7 NLT

“These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold, though your faith is far more than gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.”

God hears us. No matter what we think. I know he realizes our weaknesses and loves us anyway.

I also have never seen such an amazing display of love and unity within a community. Something great happened that day, Jesus showed up, even though we couldn’t see him, we knew he was there. He taught me more that day than I have learned over many years, to trust that Jesus hears me and he will answer when I call his name.

My heart is full of joy and thanks today as is for many others. I know this won’t be the last time I will be tested, but I know then my heart will be stronger and I will strive to believe what I pray..

Blessings, Monica

Stitch Fix Review #6 August 2015

Stitch Fix Review #6 August 2015!!

batch_IMG_4447

Thanks for stopping by my Review! I love sharing my love for Stitch Fix, and hope this review is very helpful! Here is a quick rundown of how Stitch Fix works:
You fill out a very detailed style profile explaining every aspect of your style and how you like things to feel and fit. You set the price range for each category along with what you would like to receive in your fix, like whether you would like all tops, or no jewelry, etc.. Then you schedule your Fix!! Your personal stylist will handpick five items for you which can include tops, pants, dresses, jewelry, purses, etc.. It is free shipping both ways. Keep what you love and send back what you don’t in a prepaid mailer.  No need to subscribe even though you can if you like. The cool thing is when you schedule your fix you can send your stylist a personal note explaining if there is something specific you would like that month. When you receive your Fix you will get a little note from your stylist explaining why she picked what she did, and a style card showing different ways to wear each piece! And make sure you try everything on, even if you don’t like it at first. I seriously hated one of my tops until I tried it on and it ended up being my favorite! There is a $20 styling fee initially but that will come off the price of anything you keep even if you keep just one thing. And if you keep everything you will get a 25% discount!! If  you decide to try it please use my link here so I can keep doing these posts on what I love!
So here it is!
Item #1 41Hawthorn Abrianna Knit Cardigan- Sent Back

batch_IMG_4444

I really liked the color of this cardigan. It was very soft and flowy, but sadly it was way too big in the sleeves.
Item #2 Eight Sixty Gabre Eyelet Dress-KEPT!!
batch_DSC_0103batch_DSC_0116
I LOOOOOVED this dress!! The material is fantastic! Super soft and strechy, very forgiving. The cap sleeves are so cute and comfy. Definitely one of my favorite pieces I have received so far!
Item #3 Shiraleah Adele Graphic Print Tote-Sent Back

batch_IMG_4445

This was an item I really debated back and forth. I requested a tote bag for my laptop. I had pinned this on Pinterest but it wasn’t as great in person as I expected. Just a little too flimsy to put my computer in.
Item #4 Gilli Mitchel Maxi Dress-KEPT!

batch_DSC_0094 batch_DSC_0090 batch_DSC_0086

I was so excited when I pulled this out of the box! I had specifically requested a dress like this and Jessica delivered! I love everything about it. I did hem it up about 4 inches for my petite frame. Not too  revealing, just right!
Item #5 Zad Tuscany Bead & Tassel Necklace-Sent Back

batch_IMG_4446

I liked this but I had something similar already so I couldn’t justify keeping it. Though I did really like it! If you have any other questions I didn’t clear up about Stitch Fix, shoot me an email and I will help the best I can!
Well that’s it for my review, let me know what you like and don’t! Have a wonderful day! Blessings, Monica

Back to School: Raising Up Christ-Like

School is back into full swing and I hope everyone had a fantastic summer! I know we did, full of swimming and sleeping in late!! Going back to school brings so many emotions (sniffle, I can’t believe I have a first grader), and new everyday challenges, especially when it comes to being a Christian in the modern world.

batch_batch_IMG_4469

Look at that sweet face :)

“Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
The other day I was putting Lily to bed and she asks the dreaded question, “Mom what’s the F-word?”.  My nostrils flared, eyes bugged, and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up, KEEP CALM MONICA.. Immediately I wanted to know full details on where and why she was asking (I was stalling a bit).  She said two much older girls at camp had said they had a secret for her and that is what it was (also asking what was the S-word). Well of course she had no idea what those words were and what they meant! ARGH! … Ok keeping calm now .. :)
I’m not sure why I was so surprised that this had came up, because evil is everywhere. It seems no matter how much you shelter your children from outside sin, it always finds its way to the innocent and sweet… I knew from that moment on the way I approached answering her questions would have a deep,  meaningful impact on her. So I said a little prayer to myself and went on to explain. I told her what the s-word was (word for poop!) Lol and that I would not say the f-word because it was the ugliest word in the world and only ugly mouths say it! Believe me I am no saint in saying I’ve never said those words before because I have and no person is perfect.. but that was a big dose of reality when it comes to having a clean mouth.
This situation was no different than many others in raising children in the image of our creator… It’s no different than when she asks why “Suzy” is being so mean to her or when her little heart is selfish. We take every moment one step at a time and try to deal the best we can. A little girl was being mean at camp a few weeks ago and we had this conversation on why the little girl was being mean. I told her that maybe she wasn’t very happy with herself and that she could have been taking it out on her friends. I told Lily to ask the girl if she wanted to talk about what was bothering her and just try to be a loving friend. Lily was more than happy to oblige :)
As I’m sure my husband will agree being a parent has been the biggest blessing I could have ever received. So many days though I feel as if I’m screwing it up royally! But I know deep down if I trust God and what he has in store for me, my children will prosper and grow up to be the wonderful adults I know they can become!

10150783_10203759027402103_2222669665946948257_n

Nothing has been easy when it comes to being a parent, but raising a child to be kind, respectful and full of forgiveness has to be hands down toughest task we have! I’ve heard from clients when they speak of their kids, “I raised him on my knees!”  with a chuckle.  I never knew the hard truth behind that statement until I was a parent. Yes I pray A LOT. For my kids and the other kids that bounce around with my kids at school and home everyday. Moms, it is hard! Don’t be quick to judge each other as moms.. Show Love, grace and PRAY FOR EACH OTHER! We are all in this together. :)

Blessings, Monica
