God showed up even when I didn’t believe he would..

James 1:3 NLT

“For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. “

Another month has come and gone and I hope it was fantastic for you and your family! I felt strongly to share my heart with you and what occurred this week within our community.

This was an incredibly enlightening week for me both spiritually and emotionally. Something that could have had a terrible outcome, turned into something powerful and beautiful.

A dire situation arose in a small town I work in and at the time it seemed destined to turn into a tragedy. The entire community went into action and did everything in their humanly power to help. Hundreds showed up. Those who could help physically did, and those who could only pray, did.. I helped a little physically, but mostly I  walked and prayed, hard. I sadly haven’t prayed like that in a very long time. And it hurt, because God was doing something in me I never expected. He was teaching me to BELIEVE that he would answer my prayers, even when I didn’t think he would.

A miracle happened.. God answered us, and saved a precious life. We all cried tears of joy and I also cried tears of humility because I didn’t believe God would show up. Even though I prayed and prayed my heart just didn’t believe. I let the devil win a small victory by planting a seed of disbelief. I wonder how many other times I’ve prayed for the Lord to answer me and unaware my heart was weak.

1 Peter 1:7 NLT

“These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold, though your faith is far more than gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.”

God hears us. No matter what we think. I know he realizes our weaknesses and loves us anyway.

I also have never seen such an amazing display of love and unity within a community. Something great happened that day, Jesus showed up, even though we couldn’t see him, we knew he was there. He taught me more that day than I have learned over many years, to trust that Jesus hears me and he will answer when I call his name.

My heart is full of joy and thanks today as is for many others. I know this won’t be the last time I will be tested, but I know then my heart will be stronger and I will strive to believe what I pray..

Blessings, Monica
